Our Philosophy

Ehrenfeldstudios e.V. are intergenerational, interdisciplinary and inclusive.

They work for the visibility of independent dance in Cologne and beyond. The artistic focus is on intergenerational and, in future, inclusive work in the fields of dance and performance at the interface of cultural education. The venue stands for an open, diverse view of humanity. Located in the heart of the city, the venue and its in-house companies offer evening and morning performances, festivals, laboratories for senior citizens, educational programs for schoolchildren and intergenerational formats. The programs reach everyone aged 1 – 99. Under the direction of Silke Z. and Caroline Simon, the association, which is made up of various dance professionals, also works on local and national networking with other institutions, including the Quäker Nachbarschaftheim, the Kompetenzzentrum für kulturelle Bildung im Alter und inklusiver Kultur (kubia), school institutions and is involved in national and international networks. The ehrenfeldstudios are institutionally funded by the City of Cologne. Project funds from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and various foundations support this funding. The development of a cultural, inclusive and sustainable structure – accessible to all – is the focus of the ehrenfeldstudios. The aim is to achieve public awareness and sensitization for social diversity through various artistic offerings.
